My experience with the Caribbean coast

07.08.2014

This is my history about how I met the ocean and his waves, but also, it has a little reference to the history of the city.

When I was close to be fourteen, my aunt by father side gifted to me a trip to visit another aunt, his sister, she lived in Barranquilla, Colombia, and I was unexpected because I thought it was going to be a common birthday. It was my first experience travel by the sky into airplane, my grandmother by father side accompanied me into the trip. I had a lot of fun when I began talk with people who lived in there, they were too friendly, and his accent seemed curious to me.

Well, this trip was about one month of duration. The first to weeks I spent my time with the family of my aunt and playing with the young people in the street, they referred to me as a Cachaco. I have to say its weather was hotter, sunnier, and wetter, because of how close the sea was. Talking about the sea, it was a weird but funny experience, I met it in Prado mar's beach, near of Puerto Colombia and India de Catalina's beach, in Cartagena. India de Catalina's beach was my first beach visited, the sand looked like brown and it was weird because all the beach that people sees in TV looks like white sand, additionally, it was too fun get beaten by the waves, I played a lot with my cousin, however, after two hours of got fun in the sea, I was overwhelmed by the dryness of the salinity of the sea and we returned to aunt's home. We couldn't return to Cartagena on those days because the budget was limit, but I returned three times to Prado mar's beach.

The most that I remember of Cartagena, apart from having met the sea, it was the visit to the San Felipe's castle. My grandmother couldn't accompany me into the visit, because she felt tired and his leg hurt, so I accompanied my-self. It was interesting what the history was about the castle, and the historical events occurred in there. There had a lot of tunnels with a tenebrous sensation, but with the tourist guide and the other tourists we made its funny.

And what else can I say? In Barranquilla people loved the sea food, obviously because of the near of the sea. They spoke to funny, they were friendly, they loved to have strife, and also, they love vallenato accompanied with liqueur.
